The tournament in the increasingly popular chess variant, Dice Chess, brought together 20 students from Riga’s 22nd School, as well as participants from other schools who attend the chess club.
In the girls’ competition, Veronika Lementary from class 4B claimed a confident victory. Elīna Banga from class 3C took second place, narrowly surpassing Nika Kozhemyakova from Herder School based on tie-break scores.
In the boys’ competition, no winner was determined on the first day — Eldar Ivanov, Matvey Ivanov from class 2A, Mikhail Bolshakov from class 2B, and Igor Saraev from class 4B all scored an equal number of points. The playoff took place on Tuesday, April 21, to decide the champion. In the end, Eldar Ivanov secured first place, Igor Saraev came second, and Mikhail Bolshakov finished third.
The tournament was held in a friendly atmosphere and provided a great opportunity for young chess players to demonstrate their skills, ingenuity, and competitive spirit. The non-profit organization “Dice Chess Federation” thanks coach Mitrofan Slobodyan for organizing the tournament and all participants for their enthusiastic play. Congratulations to the winners! We hope that these competitions will become a wonderful tradition and will attract even more schoolchildren to the exciting world of Dice Chess in the future.
