First Dice Chess Tournament in Italy — Bolzano 2026
On May 18, 2026, ARCI Scacchi Bolzano made history by organizing the first official Dice Chess tournament in Italy in OTB (Over The Board) format — with a physical chessboard, real pieces, and official dice on the table.
The tournament took place at the elegant Hotel Città di Bolzano, in the heart of the historic city center.
26 players took part in this historic first edition. After a dramatic finish — with FM Davide Olivetti leading 7/7 before losing his last 4 games in a row — the final standings saw 5 players tied at 7 points.
In the end, it was the young Mario Tonin (U18) who claimed victory with 8 points out of 11. Second place went to the impressive Mattia Parolin (U12) with the same score but worse tiebreaks. Third place went to FM Davide Olivetti.
