On June 14th, in the picturesque town of Cēsis, within the cozy atmosphere of Maija Park, the Dice Chess tournament took place — an original and dynamic version of classic chess where strategy is combined with an element of luck thanks to dice rolls. The tournament was organized by the nonprofit organization “Dice Chess Federation” in cooperation with the organizers of the “IV Chess Festival Cēsis Open 2025.”

This year, the tournament brought together 44 participants, including chess players of all ages — from schoolchildren to seasoned players. A particular point of pride was the record number of female participants — 17 in total — marking the highest turnout of women in the history of Dice Chess in Latvia.

The competition unfolded in a friendly and exciting atmosphere. Many players noted that Dice Chess offers a fresh perspective on the game, adding spontaneity and fun. The tournament attracted not only local players but also guests from other cities, further confirming the growing popularity of Dice Chess.

The prize fund of the tournament was €300, which was distributed among the winners and prizewinners.
